Social Security Debt Help is a project of Social Security Rights Victoria, and can be used by anyone in Australia.
Social Security Debt Help is a free resource to help people understand debts caused by overpayment of social security payments. These are usually referred to as “Centrelink debts”, and are administered by Centrelink/Services Australia. Social Security Debt Help is designed to help people better understand Centrelink debts and the options available to them.
Social Security Debt Help has been designed for people who have been asked to repay a Centrelink debt, and those supporting them. Social Security Debt Help is available as a free resource to all Australians. You do not have to live in Victoria to use Social Security Debt Help.
Social Security Debt Help is a project of Social Security Rights Victoria (SSRV).
SSRV is a community legal centre that provides free legal services in relation to Social Security and Centrelink matters to people across Victoria.
SSRV worked with the design consultancies Paper Giant and The Creative Works to create this website and the tools it contains.
Social Security Debt Help is supported by funding from the Victorian Legal Services Board and Commissioner under the Victorian Legal Services Board Grants Program.
Social Security Debt Help and Social Security Rights Victoria are not part of Centrelink, Services Australia, or any government department or agency.
If you would like to talk to someone about the Social Security Debt Help Project generally, you can contact SSRV.
If you need help with the debts or are having trouble understanding anything on this website, you can get help.
